Embark on a Journey

conquer fear

Success is a mindset, as it is riskier not to take a risk. Many people fail in life not because of lack of ideas but because of inability to conquer fear. 99% of the world are working for 1% who took a risk.

Everything about life is a risk. You don’t hold your life in hand. Everything we do in life comprises of risk. You wake up, go to park and enter a bus not knowing the psych of the driver. Isn’t that a risk? The food you eat in restaurants is a risk. It appears that in nature we tend to master big risk and fail to master the small risk. Going for an adventure is a small risk compared to risk of life.

Risk Taker is an Achiever

You cannot attain something worthwhile by doing ordinary things except if you turn an ordinary thing into extraordinary and this must be done with taking more risk to achieve it. A risk taker is an achiever, The Wright Brothers took a big risk when they invented airplane.  All the bridges you see were built by taking risks, the car you drive, as well as the ship you sail. What is it you want to do that you are afraid of? Is it worth a risk? If it does why waste your time? Act now, without action nothing will happens. Go out and meet the adventure. You never know how strong you are until you face your fear.

conquer fear

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Nelson Mandela. Yes indeed, no man lives without fear but the difference among men is how they handle their fears.

“The fear of criticism is at the bottom of the destruction of most ideas which never reach the planning and action stage.” – Napoleon Hill. Thanks to Napoleon Hill who was able to figure out what many failed to do. We are more afraid of what people might say when we fail than trying to do our best to prove them wrong. To please others and displease yourself is a sin. The best revenge is success but how can you do that by living in fear? You must conquer fear if you really want to live.

You Must Conquer Fear

No wonder Franklin D. Roosevelt said that “There is nothing to fear but fear itself.” Nothing indeed, why do you give in to fear? The chick conquered fear before it broke the egg and guess what? A new life was born. This is to tell us that we die from fear when we become a prisoner of fear. Martin Luther King once said: “If a man hasn’t discovered something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.”

ship

There was a day I went to the seaport to board a ship. Unfortunately, I missed the ship and had no option but to use the nearest alternative which is a flying boat. Boat is an adventure here and only the brave use it because of the waves in the high sea. I called my girlfriend, told her about it, and she asked me never to use the boat. I was totally confused and option-less. No one supported me, but I mustered up my courage and called my girlfriend back. She insisted and I told her with a loud voice “it is even riskier not to take a risk “. She was speechless, and I thundered again: “I will use the boat and nothing will happen. I am going and will come back to see you soon”. She was left with no option and said: “okay see you honey”.

Conclusion

I embarked on a journey with flying boat and everything went well. Today, I prefer to use boats rather than ships. We never know the strength we have within until we can leave our comfort zone and sail on adventure. How did YOU conquer fear?

Many people aren’t ready for new ventures just because of what others will think? what if I fail? And yes we must conquer our fears as said by Nelson Mandela.
Thanks for sharing this inspiring post

You are right many people are scared of what other’s may think, but if they can only live their life on their own terms and forget about other people’s insecurities, they too can have the freedom from fear.

Thanks for your comment it keeps me going

Risk + learning that failure is part of succeeding and you’ve got a winning combination.
I also believe if you give “fear” a good thought you’ll realize there’s nothing scary about the feeling, however paradoxical it may sound. Just get used to “fear” and it will disappear on its own.

    1. Crisly Zerrudo

If we learn to face our fear and do yhe things we feared, the death of fear is certain.

  3. Lois

It is riskier not to take a risk. I will remember that.

It really is. Thank you for reading.

Amazing post! Life is definitely a journey and it won’t always be smooth sailing! We must conquer or fears and use it as fuel to move forward.

FEAR kills more dreams than anything else!

    1. Crisly Zerrudo

      Couldn’t agree more, thank you.

For me, taking the initial risk is the easy part. The hard part is determining when to keep going or when to let the universe take over.

    1. Fantabulous40s

I’m the same way as you. Starting a blog was done on a whim. I never imagined I would do something like that. I’m doing it now and wonder eveyday if I should continue. That’s the harder part for me.

      1. Crisly Zerrudo

If you feel like giving up, and questioning yourself if you should continue, always pause and ask yourself, why did you started doing it in the first place? If this is something you like or love to do, if this is something that made you happy or lift up your spirit, that you feel free, why would you stop that freedom?

        1. Fantabulous40s

This is something that makes me happy. Most definitely. It’s more work than I expected but I find myself wanting to do this more than wanting to do my paying job. Which is of course very scary. Thanks for your comment. Puts things in perspective for sure.

          1. Crisly Zerrudo

I’m glad I could help. Remember, everything we do is just a matter of finding the right balance. Who knows, the time will come that you quit your job because you are earning more from your blog. Just keep pushing, but of course don’t forget to give yourself affirmations in everything you do. Good luck.

          2. Fantabulous40s

Thank you very much. Very helpful.

No risk, no gain, very interesting and informative one. Enjoyed a lot, Thanks.

    1. Crisly Zerrudo

I agree with you, you wouldn’t know what you’re capable of unless you take the risk.

This is so damn inspiring. Fear. Yeah, I’m still struggling to face my own fear. I know that once I managed to conquer my fear, there’s nothing I need to afraid of!

I couldn’t agree more with the message. And I love this quote from Nelson Mandela! People who do not feel the fear are either unaware or silly, however those who take over the control over their fear and situation are really courageous.

    1. Crisly Zerrudo

Indeed, it’s true. We wouldn’t know if we can handle such things that we fear if we won’t have the courage to face it.

  12. Ramona Spires

Love your post. Learning to take risks despite your fears is not always easy but worth it. The lessons you learn will be more valuable than you know.

The question of why we choose fear is an important one. The answer is rarely “because I’m afraid.” Usually there is an underlying reason, or belief, that makes us afraid. Fear isn’t simply something we can choose to overcome (sometimes it is, but often it is more than that). I think as we seek to conquer fear, it is important to look inward and address the root of that fear as well.

    1. Crisly Zerrudo

Well said, in any situation we should always find the root and analyze it before we can do anything. Thank you for your thoughts.

  16. Dawn

    Great article. Thank You

  17. Stella Nadene

I’m actually following through with my blog and the features I’ve been scared to do because I know I have to force myself through those fears of what others think. I really don’t care any more. Thanks for the great article!

    1. Crisly Zerrudo

That’s great to know Stella, never give others the opportunity to overpower you. Never be scared of what others might think, at the end of the day, it’s you who will benefit from it, whether a lesson learned, or an achievement.

  18. mirela16

A very nice post. Thank you for your lessons.

Thanks everyone for your comments they keep me going and doing more . One thing about my life is that I never believe in the word impossible. A friend once ask me the meaning of impossible. I told him that impossible is the very word I have never seen in my dictionary. “That’s mindset” everything is possible to him who can try . Thank you Crisly Zerrudo for giving me the privilege to share my blog . I really appreciate everyone. I love you all
