We are thrilled to present to you our Motivational Blogger of the Week, Ariel Lee!

She is a bucket list traveler and has plenty to still check off. She answered 10 questions we gave her with at least one or two paragraphs, and expounded the answers as long as she wanted.

What is your definition of success?

Success to me is completing a goal of something you set out to do. I believe being the best that you can be is success. For years, I always compared myself to others. I never found myself successful when I did this. When I stopped comparing myself to others and seeing people as competition, I started seeing the success in what I have achieved over the years. I believe that everyone is successful in their own way, as each person has their own idea of success.

What do you fear the most?

The thing I fear the most is getting older. While I understand I am only 26, life just flies by and it never seems to slow down. I love my life and the people around me, but the older I get the more people seem to pass away. I am afraid of being left alone here on this earth by myself. I count on the relationship of others to get me by daily. Especially the relationship of my mother and husband, both of which I feel are my rocks in life.

What qualities do you admire in others?

I admire many different qualities in people. I admire the quality of treating others, as you would like to be treated. This was a quality that I learned fast as a child growing up going to school in a Catholic school. I also admire people’s confidence, without being overly confident or full of yourself. I have lacked self-confidence for years, but am slowly working up to loving myself.

I admire people who are honest. No one likes liars or people who are dishonest. I believe that most people can tell when others are lying, but in all reality why lie? My last biggest admiration is people who deeply love other people and show that love constantly. I learned this quality at a young age, but that is due to wearing my heart on my sleeve.

What area of life makes you feel the best?

The area of life that makes me feel the best is my home life. I am a mother to two puppies and a wife to an amazing husband. I enjoy being with them more than anything, as they are my support system and I am theirs. I enjoy hanging out with my husband and puppies because they make me love life.

I cannot imagine doing life without them. I know I definitely do not want to do life without them. I am also a homebody, due to being an introvert. I recharge myself being alone, instead of being around dozens of people. I am truly thankful and blessed for my home life.

Is there anything you can’t let go, but you know you should?

I have plenty I cannot let go of, but there is one instance that sticks out the most to me. When I was in high school, I went to a football game with some friends. I did not dress up, I did not put on any make up. I was simply just me, a friend of a friend of mine walked up to me and said, “You look like a grandma without your glasses on.”

That statement still haunts me day in and day out. I hide behind my glasses each and every day. During my wedding, I wanted so badly to put my glasses on because of that statement. Thankfully, my make-up artist did a fabulous job on my make-up and I felt truly beautiful that day. I am also in the process of learning to love myself just the way I am each and every day

What life experience changed the way you see and define life?

When I was a freshman in college, I decided to take my first trip ever. I decided to go see my grandparents for 13 days In Florida. While I did not get to do much as much as I wanted to, I still got to travel and see my grandparents. This trip taught me a lot of different life lessons all jam packed into one trip.

This first was where my passion for travel came to be. I saw the ocean for the first time and knew the earth had more beauty to it than just my own back yard. I also learned that life is short, my grandfather died later that year. This made me learn to live life to the fullest and understand that time does fly by. This trip also taught me to be thankful for what I do have, instead of hating everything I do not have.

When life pushes you over, how do you react?

When life pushes me over, I react in different ways. Sometimes, well most of the time I cry. I will admit I am sensitive and emotional. Like I said earlier, I wear my heart on my sleeve. After getting upset, I learn to deal with it. I believe that life only gives you as much as it knows you can handle.

I have dealt with a huge load many different times, so I know I am strong. I find ways to overcome the obstacle and keep on going. Life is too short to let life push you over and knock you down. I always want to come out on top and not let life defeat me.

Who/what motivates you the most?

Travel and my mom motivate me the most. My mom always tells me to be the best me that I can be. She and I are a lot alike, so she never judges me for what I say to her. She always lends a listening ear and advice when she knows I need it. She allows me to be me, while I continue to grow and live my life to the fullest.

Travel also motivates me the most because it is something I am truly and deeply passionate about. I have learned so much about myself from traveling. Traveling has allowed me to see things I never thought I could see, things I did not know were possible or existed in this world. Traveling has provided me with a much more full heart than I ever thought was possible to have.

What qualities do you have that others should possess?

There are many qualities that I have that others should possess. The first one is that others should treat people the way they want to be treated. I believe with my whole heart that if you treat others the way you want to be treated, this world would be a lot more nice and loving.

Another quality is my drive to succeed and push myself. I went to school full time, worked full time and did practicum full time for an entire year. Many people complained about how they could not do it. I believe that if you set your whole mind to it, you can discover that you can do anything you set it to do.

Also, another quality is listening wholeheartedly to others. Many people love to just talk and ramble on about their lives but will not lend a listening ear when someone else needs it. I listen to others, but rarely speak for this reason.

What words of wisdom would you share to our readers/community?

I have many words of wisdom to share with the readers/community. Life is too short to let other people influence how you feel about yourself. You are the only you in this world and the world needs a you in it, it does not need another someone else in it.

Respect, listen, love and care for one another. You never know when someone is truly in need of help or support until you do those things. I will leave you with my favorite quote, “You can never cross the ocean, until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” Life and love life to the fullest, you never know how much time left on this earth.

Ariel has a lot of great advice at a young age. Sounds like she’s figuring this “life thing” out early on. 🙂 I’m also an introvert so I can really relate to her loving her home life. I need my time alone, in my own environment, to recharge. Great interview.
