What are the reasons you see for making a change this year?

I see myself more leaning towards self development because I struggle a lot with confidence issues at times. I think things have to be set or done a particular way for it to be achieved, so I am taking an approach to rediscover myself and helping others a long the way with my journey.

What sort of person would you like to become?

I want to become a better version of myself. Right now, I am leaning towards half-way there as I continue to grow and try to change dirty habits that I have picked up along the way.

If things worked out in the best possible way for you, what would you be doing a year from now?

I would be travelling and working on helping women with their style and confidence. It is one of my aspirations, to reach women by educating them with their style. This is something that I have always wanted to do, but have put off for a very long time.

How do you motivate yourself to get work done after trying many things and failing over and over again?

I continue to stay focused and try again, even when I hear no a couple of times, I still push through to hear that one yes. Even on days when I feel like I’m about to give up, I look back at when I started my business and see what a difference a year has made.

To tell you the truth, I see what I have achieved during the year, I wonder at times what if I had given up? I use that as a motivation, to know that things or situations will never remain the same. You have to continue to crawl until you can walk.

Why do we willfully and consciously engage in self-destructive habits while ignoring our better judgment?

I think the reason for this is because we were not taught on how to love ourselves, but more of hearing from others. I think when we practice self-confidence daily, we will eventually believe in ourselves again. That will be done without waiting on external forces to validate us and listen more to our intuition.

What stops or reduces your motivation?

Some of the times, it’s things that I have no control over. The fact that I have set out to achieve a goal and then you have to make changes to adjust in reaching that goal.

I have learned that some of the times you have to take a different approach to reach such a goal.

What’s the habit requiring the least effort that makes the greatest difference?

Mine will have to be organizing myself. I find it time consuming to do so at times, but I have seen where it has come in handy time and time again to do what I have to do.

What is your best advice on keeping the focus on the important when the distractions in our lives are constant?

I recently made a success jar and add all the things that I had achieved over the year. This has come in handy when I have felt unmotivated and have distractions in my life.

When I experience distractions, all I have to do is get a dose of some of my achievements. They will remind me that I still have a long way to go, minimize the distractions and keep moving forward.

What’s the wisest thing you have ever heard someone say?

The wisest thing I have heard someone say to me was to stay in your own lane and focus on you. The only person you can be tomorrow is a better version of yourself.

Too many times we make the mistake of comparing ourselves to others, which I am guilty of, but the only person I can work on is myself.

What is the most important quality you look for in another person?

The most important quality I would say that I look for in a person is honesty. If you are not honest with your intentions, then this will be a factor with trust and all the other qualities.

What life lessons do you wish you knew 10 years ago?

I didn’t have to go to school to learn that I can be an online business owner from home and make money. I would have used that ten years ago to build and create but everything happens for a reason.

Do the people you love most know how much you love them?

The people I love the most, know that I do love them. I have a supportive family and anything that I have put my mind to, they have been there.

My family and loved ones have always supported me and I try my best to do the same for them as well. So, of course they know that I love and appreciate them!

Do you say ‘yes’ too often when you really want to say ‘no’? Why?

I know I suffer with that a lot and it all comes down to be a people pleaser. That’s why I am focusing on myself, so that I can grow and eliminate things and people that will serve me no good.

Do you think it’s too late to do certain things in your life? Why?

No, it’s never too late to start. “Rome was not built in a day”. I always think that at whatever stage in life you are at, and once you have decided to follow whatever dream you have, you can do so.

The only thing or person holding you back is you. So if I need to adjust, learn or try something new I fully embrace it.

If you could offer only one piece of advice about beginning, changing habits, or starting fresh, what would it be?

I would say that nothing is wrong with the struggles you are going through now. You are here for a purpose, to inspire or motivate someone.

Keep on doing what you love and stay in your own lane. If that means learning something new or aligning yourself with someone who has gone the path before you, then do it!

  1. The success jar is a good idea, Juli. It’s good to remind ourselves how far we have come in life even if we are struggling at the moment. They can re-motivate us when we doubt ourselves. I should start doing that myself.

  2. Rome wasn’t built in a day…that’s so true. I’ve always heard it as the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time and I guess that’s kind of the same thing. I also like the phrase “stay in your own lane” — I might have to start using that one myself! I love it when I see people keep pushing through when they get knocked down time and time again. I found this to be very inspiring!
